TUN-L Series Racz® Catheters: Improving Access, Efficiency, and Results
Manufactured by Epimed, the TUN-L Racz Catheter series is an innovative solution for targeted epidural access, specifically for Epidural Steroid Injections (ESIs) or site-specific epidural injections, which include epidural scarring or adhesions. It sets a new standard for minimally invasive pain management, designed with a 19G size, enhanced tensile strength, and spring coils that make the catheter resistant to kinking and collapsing
Precision by Design
The Tun-L Series spring-guide epidural catheters are constructed with a surgical grade stainless steel continuous spring.
Key design features include:
– High tensile strength to resist breakage and minimize longitudinal stretch
– Spring coil construction for kink resistance and flexible navigation
– Calibrated depth markings and Racz Bend Marks for optimal directability in lumbar regions.
– Smooth and uncoated distal tip is rounded with coils slightly spread for easier access through deep tissue.
– Specifically developed for the Lysis of Adhesions procedure and targeted epidural injections.
Site-Specific TUN-L Racz Catheters
The Epimed TUN-L Series Racz® Catheters are all 19G, spring-guided, and designed for targeted epidural interventions. Available in 33.25” and 24” lengths, each model is built to address specific procedural demands—whether in navigating scarred anatomy or enabling extended infusions.
• Tun-L-Kath | 19G, 33.25”: Firm, steerable catheter with 1:1 torque and rounded atraumatic tip. Designed for precise navigation through dense or scarred epidural tissue, making it well-suited for procedures involving failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS), spinal stenosis, or disc disruption. Offers durability and control for reliable medication delivery.
• Tun-L-XL | 19G, 33.25”: The selectable XL tip orientation allows similar top softness as the Tun-L-Kath when retracted. Provides ease in placement for extensive epidural scarring.
• Tun-L-XL/24 | 19G, 24”: Similar to the TUN-L-XL™, this XL tip catheter is packaged with two stylets that each match the specific catheter length. Dual stylet feature is beneficial when the first stylet becomes bent during difficult placements. Recommended for patients with adhesions at multiple levels.
• Tun-L-XL Pro | 19G, 24”: It comes with two XL stylets for difficult-to-reach target sites, one with a regular gauge and the other with a large gauge. Both adjustable for straight or curved positioning, ideal for multiple level procedures that require a longer catheter.
Why are TUN-L Racz Catheters the right choice for you?
When precision matters, TUN-L Series Racz Catheters are the optimal choice.
These catheters provide:
• Enhanced directional control in scarred or narrowed epidural spaces
• Radiopaque visibility for accurate fluoroscopic guidance
• Come with the Epimed Stingray Connector for secure medication delivery
• Extended-length options for infusions lasting up to 72 hours
Compared to the Brevi Series, the TUN-L Series offers longer lengths, increased steerability, and greater procedural flexibility.

FAQ’s
What size are the TUN-L Catheters and what is their specific purpose?
The TUN-L Series Catheters are 19G, available in 33.25 inch or 24 inch lengths. They are designed for targeted site-specific epidural injections, particularly in cases involving adhesions, scarring, or challenging lumbar anatomy.
What conditions can the TUN-L Series Racz® Catheter treat?
The TUN-L Series is commonly used in procedures such as epidural adhesiolysis can treat PSPS-T2 (Failed back surgery syndrome), epidural scarring, and cases requiring infusions.
Which TUN-L Series Catheter is best used for infusions?
All TUN-L Catheters are optimized for infusions, yet the TUN-L-XL and Tun-L-XL/24 are most recommended for transfusions outside of the surgical room that can last up to 72 hours.
Which needles are best used with the TUN-L Series?
The TUN-L Series is best paired with Epimed RX-2™ Epidural Needles in 15G or 16G, including the RX-2™ Coudé® Needle for improved directional control during catheter placement.
