Epimed RF Flare™ Cannula - Advanced radiofrequency ablation needle for chronic pain treatment, featuring a unique V-shaped active tip and dual hub injection for larger lesions. Leading RF technology for pain physicians.

Expanding Epimed’s RF Cannula Portfolio

In the continuous pursuit to advance pain management solutions, Epimed is proud to announce an exciting expansion to his radiofrequency product family: the RF Flare™ Cannula. Developed by Epimed in partnership with Dr. Harold Cordner*, RF Flare™ Cannula stands out as a specialized RF needle tailored for creating larger lesions. designed with a “V” shape active tip, coupled with dual-hub injection, this breakthrough sets new standards for effective and minimally invasive RF ablation procedures.

Key Features of the RF Flare™ Cannula

V-Shaped Active Tip for Larger Lesions

The 18-gauge RF Flare Needle features a V-shaped active tip design that increases the radiofrequency lesion area. Clinical data shows that this design creates lesions with 82% greater volume compared to a standard 18-gauge RF cannula, enhancing treatment effectiveness and allowing for better pain relief.

Dual Hub Injection for Enhanced Efficiency

The dual hub injection allows for simultaneous medication delivery and ablation. This feature streamlines procedures, improves efficiency, and reduces the risk of needle tip migration during stimulation, injections, and RF ablation. Additionally, a built-in one-way valve at the hub prevents backflow during injection, ensuring cleanliness and efficiency.

How to use the Dual Hub of the RF Flare™ Cannula

1. Insert and Position: Remove the stylet and insert the probe, then follow the usual procedure for the RF ablation.
2. Achieve Desired Location: Once the desired location and threshold have been achieved, there is no need to remove the probe.
3. Administer Medication: Deliver local anesthetic directly into the injection tube using the dual hub of the RF Flare™, minimizing needle movement and ensuring precise delivery.

Advantages for Pain Physicians

Enhanced Treatment Efficacy

The ability to create larger lesions without increasing the needle gauge means more effective targeting of the lesion zone with minimal tissue damage along the path.

Minimally Invasive

By maintaining the same needle size, the RF Flare minimizes procedural trauma, contributing to quicker recovery times and improved patient outcomes.

Precision and Stability

With its unique extension tubing, the RF Flare cannula facilitates the injection of local anesthesia without needing to move the probe. This design can prevent cannula displacement, reduce procedural time, and enhance precision.

Expert Insights

Dr. Harold Cordner holding the Epimed RF Flare™ Cannula, an advanced radiofrequency ablation needle.Dr. Harold Cordner*, who collaborated with Epimed on this project, stated,
“The RF Flare™ Cannula offers significant advantages. Its tubing allows medication to be injected directly to the tip without removing the electrode, minimizing cannula movement and enhancing precision. The one-way valve prevents blood return, and the small port increases the lesion size by allowing both medication and the electrode to pass through.

This results in wider lesions, higher success rates, and longer-lasting outcomes, all while being less painful for the patient and more efficient for the physician.”

Commitment to Excellence

The 18-gauge RF Flare is ideal for Lumbar, Cervical, and Thoracic Medial Branch Nerve RF Ablation, featuring an 18-gauge Coudé® needle, active tip: 10 mm, length: 10 cm, extension tubing. Compatible with Epimed RF™ probes: Nitinol, and Disposable Probes.

It’s important to note that RFA is effective for certain conditions, it’s not suitable for all types of pain. The decision to use this technique is based on physician’s clinical decision and various factors, including the type and location of the pain, the patient’s overall health, and previous treatments.

Minimizing Risk. Every Procedure. Every Time.™
